3.2 System Search

If you know what type of penetrating item will be used, the assembly it will pass through, the type of firestop that is needed or the UL System Number, Hilti Firestop Program has a search feature to help you find the appropriate system. Located under the View menu, or by selecting the button, a search can be performed two different ways.

3.2.1 Search For System Groups

If the penetrating item and penetrated assembly are known, a search can be performed to locate the selected group within the selection table. This would be considered a general search. To do this, perform the following:

1. While in the Firestop System Chart mode select the Search Function.
2. Using the arrow button, located on the right side of the "Group Filter" section, open the Group Filter List. (See Figure 3.2.1)
3. Select the group that corresponds with the penetration item and assembly used.
4. Click on the "OK" button when ready to view list.

The computer screen will bring you to the selected group within the selection chart. To show only the systems which match your search parameters, click the box labeled "Only Show Matching Firestop Systems" as shown in Figure 3.2.3.A particular system or information may be selected from this list and viewed by performing steps discussed later in this manual. You may also perform a Word Search after the Group Filter has been completed by following the steps described in 3.2.2. To return to the original Firestop System Chart, perform the steps above and choose "ALL SYSTEMS" for the Group Search.

3.2.2 Word, UL System or Product Search

As part of the Search feature, you may also choose a more specific search for UL Systems, type of firestop or a specific type of pipe. You may enter the UL System number (e.g. CAJ1155), type of sealant (e.g. FS 601), or use a word (e.g. glass pipe) in the "Search For" section of the Search screen to retrieve specific information on firestop systems. To perform this, follow these steps:

1. While in the Search screen, choose the Group Filter desired. (The system defaults to "All Systems" if a group filter is not chosen).
2. Type the word or phrase that is to be searched for. (See Figure 3.2.2)
3. Click on the "OK" button when ready to view list.

NOTE: When this search is performed, the program will bring you to the first found match within the selection chart. (e.g. If FS 601 was typed in, the program will bring you to the first system found using FS 601 with all of the other systems still listed.) If you would like to see only the systems that utilize FS 601, you must check on the "Only Show Matching Firestop Systems" box. (See Figure 3.2.3)
